Road
The City of Inverness, capital of the Highlands, is the main travel hub for the region, situated within 3 hours’ drive of Scotland’s cities. The principal arterial routes into the region give access to and from Stirling, Perth and north to Thurso (A9); Glasgow and Fort William (A82); and Aberdeen (A96). A number of bus operators also run daily services to Inverness and the Highlands from the main cities with connections to the rest of the UK.
Rail
Daily services run to Inverness connecting to the rest of the Highlands from Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as many UK centres including London. The Caledonian Sleeper service from London Euston to Inverness operates six nights a week (not Saturdays). Scotrail www.scotrail.co.uk manages the service along with Inverness Train Station, which has good train links with the rest of Scotland and the UK. Air

Public Transport
Bus and train services operate in and around the main centres connecting to rural villages and towns across the Highlands.
