Lochaber
Located at the southern end of the Great Glen, Lochaber is hailed the outdoor capital of the Highlands. Its mountain, loch and glen topography lends itself to a host of activities ranging from cycling and mountain biking to climbing, skiing and white water rafting, while its principal town, Fort William, is the Highland gateway to celebrated touring route, the West Highland Way. Indeed, being home to Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, walkers are particularly well served in Lochaber. It’s also home to Glencoe, historic site of the notorious Massacre of Glencoe, while the scenic Road to the Isles – the ancient cattle droving route – passes through Lochaber en route to Mallaig.
